Hydrogeochemical Analysis of Water and Sediment from the Romanian Danube (June, 2024) – PN 23 30 03 03, National Project

The dataset comprises hydrogeochemical data from the Romanian sector of the Danube River. The data were collected aboard the R/V ISTROS during a research cruise conducted between June 3 and June 20, 2024. This campaign was undertaken within the national research project “Optimizing the sustainable management of natural resources, enhancing water security, and increasing the resilience of ecosystems in the Lower Danube Basin, impacted by climate change and anthropogenic interventions” (PN 23 30 03 03).

Forty-seven water sampling stations were established along the river, spanning from km 535 to river kilometre 1074. Additionally, 115 sediment samples were collected from corresponding sectors using a Van Veen grab sampler.

This comprehensive dataset is intended to support the assessment of sediment and surface water quality and to facilitate ecological evaluations in accordance with national and international standards.
