Hydrogeochemical Analysis of Water and Sediment from the Romanian Danube (September, 2021) – PN 19 20 02 04, National Project

The dataset comprises hydrogeochemical data from the Romanian section of the Danube River. The data were collected on board the R/V ISTROS during a research cruise conducted between September 9 and September 24, 2021, as part of the national project “Development of an Integrated Management Framework for Pilot Areas in the Romanian Sector of the Danube River, Influenced by Climate Change and Anthropogenic Interventions, through the Application of Advanced Investigation Methodologies (Geophysical, Remote Sensing, Sedimentological, Morphological, Biological)” (PN 19.20.02.04).

Seventy-eight water sampling stations, distributed across four sectors of the Danube (Corabia, Bechet, Pisculet-Desa, Golenti-Cetate), were used to investigate water by the GeoEcoMar team.

Additionally, 78 sediment samples were collected from the same sectors using Van Veen grabs and analysed at the GeoEcoMar laboratory. The dataset aims to support the assessment of sediment and surface water quality and to facilitate ecological evaluations in comparison with national and international standards.
