Grain size analysis of bottom sediments from lower sector of Danube River (Corabia, Bechet, Pisculeț-Desa, Golenți-Cetate sectors), 2022 – PN 19 20 02 04, National Project

The dataset comprises grain size analysis data of bottom sediments from the lower sector of the Danube River. The data were collected during two research cruises conducted between June 3 - June 20, 2022 and September 23 - October 3, 2022, as part of the national project “Development of an Integrated Management Framework for Pilot Areas in the Romanian Sector of the Danube River, Influenced by Climate Change and Anthropogenic Interventions, through the Application of Advanced Investigation Methodologies (Geophysical, Remote Sensing, Sedimentological, Morphological, Biological)” (PN 19 20 02 04).

A total of 78 sediment samples were collected during the first expedition and 78 during the second, from four Danube sectors: Downstream Corabia (Km 626–631), Bechet (Km 674–678), Pisculeț–Desa (Km 760–765), and Golenți–Cetate (Km 805–811). Sampling was performed using a Van Veen grab by the GeoEcoMar research team. The dataset aims to support the characterization of sediment texture and the evaluation of spatial and temporal variability of bottom sediments in this section of the Danube River.
