A total of 116 sediment samples were collected during the first expedition, in the following Danube sectors: Belene (Km 537-547), Corabia (Km 626-631), Salcia (Km 287-294), Gârla Mare (Km 820-844) and Iron Gates I (Km 934-952) and 119 during the second expedition, from this sectors: Calnovăț (Km 604-615), Bechet (Km 674-678), Pisculeț-Desa (Km 760–765), Bogdan-Secian (Km 781–786) and Downstream Iron Gates II (Km 860–870). Sampling was performed using a Van Veen grab by the GeoEcoMar research team. The dataset aims to support the characterization of sediment texture and the evaluation of spatial and temporal variability of bottom sediments in this section of the Danube River.
